Legacy in Action: Mu Sigma at 50

APRIL 8-11, 2027  •  ROCHESTER, NEW YORK

On January 22, 1977, nine young men answered the call of Alpha Phi Alpha and founded the Mu Sigma Chapter. Under the guidance of their Dean, Mr. William Davis, the Gold Line of the Junkyard Dog laid a foundation of scholarship, fellowship, manly deeds, and love for all mankind that has carried the chapter for five decades.

From Thursday, April 8 through Sunday, April 11, 2027, brothers spanning fifty years will gather in Rochester to reconnect with the men who shaped us, meet the men who carry the chapter forward today, and celebrate everyone who made Mu Sigma what it is. The weekend opens with a welcome reception, moves through a full program of fellowship, reflection, and celebration, and closes the way Alphas always have: with a day of service to the community that raised us.

A 50th anniversary is more than a milestone. It is proof that what nine men started has endured, grown, and changed lives in ways they could not have imagined. It’s a chance to say the names of those who came before us, to thank the families and mentors who supported us, and to tell our story in our own words so the next generation knows where they come from. True to our creed of “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All,” we are not just looking back. We’re recommitting to the work ahead. Whether you crossed in the chapter’s earliest years or just last spring, your place is here. Come celebrate fifty years of Mu Sigma, and help us begin the next fifty.
